Fiesta de las Flores orchid show and sale – free and open to the public on March 5 and 6, 2022 at Mesquite Valley Growers.
Our annual orchid show and sale is almost here! We will have orchid displays, plants for sale and orchid judging. Have questions or want to swap stories on how to grow orchids? Come on by, we’ll have Tucson Orchid Society members available to talk about their favorite ways to rebloom orchids! Orchid displays will be set up by 10:00 on Saturday. Hours: Saturday 9 to 5, Sunday 9-3:30.
The Tucson Orchid Society (TOS) is a friendly group of orchid growers in southeastern Arizona that gather to share tips on growing orchids. We particularly enjoy bringing orchids in bloom for show and tell and our speakers often bring plants to sell. Growing in the desert is different and we can help you learn how to encourage your plants to bloom. Visitors are always welcome!
In the spring we have an orchid show and plant sale at a local nursery. There are orchid displays, judging by accredited AOS judges, informal judging by our members, scrambling to buy good plants, and lot of great conversations with visitors about orchids. We will have a public, in-person show and sale on March 5 and 6, 2022 at Mesquite Valley Growers Nursery. Our 2021 public show was canceled due to Covid, so we had a virtual show instead. Check the Orchid Show page for the beautiful results.
We regularly meet on the third Wednesday in January through October. In November, the Society holds a fundraising auction of plants donated for that purpose. The auction is usually on a different day rather than the third Wednesday. In December, we have a wonderful, relaxing potluck at a member’s greenhouse. Starting Sept 2021 meetings are in person and possibly on Zoom, but in person meetings could be canceled without warning due to Covid 19.
Monthly meetings are held at the Gem & Mineral Society Building (side entrance), 3727 E. Blacklidge Dr., Tucson, AZ 85716 at 7:30 PM. From the intersection of East Ft. Lowell and North Dodge, go two blocks south on Dodge, turn left on Blacklidge. The building is on the north side of the street.
